The National Screen Institute–Canada (NSI)
The National Screen Institute–Canada (NSI) is the destination for focused, market-driven professional development training programs for writers, directors and producers working in film, television and digital media. Based in Winnipeg, NSI programs are available to content creators from across the country. Training is anchored in the philosophy that the best way to learn is by doing. This happens with a formula of in-person “boot camp” training, after which students return home to work on their projects with faculty guidance and mentorship with industry professionals. You don’t have to give up your day job ad you don’t pay tuition fees. All NSI training programs are market-driven and taught by industry experts. NSI is committed to diversity and is a leader in the design and delivery of programs that provide training to Canada’s visible minorities and aboriginal screen professionals. NSI’s online presence includes online resources such as video interviews, podcasts, blogs, and opinion articles from the movers and shakers of Canada’s film & television industry. And its commitment to showcasing the best of Canadian short films has been cemented with the NSI online short film festival, a quality, year-round festival airing works from independent filmmakers. New films and audio interviews with the filmmakers are posted to the nsi website each week. All NSI website content can be accessed for free. View our newest short film selection.
