Film Programs
Manitoba Film & Music offers a series of programs aimed at the development, production and marketing of projects shot in Manitoba.
-
Pitch Readiness Program for Multi-Episode Productions
This program assists producers of multi-episode productions that have not yet obtained broadcaster or distributor financial support to prepare the strongest pitch presentations possible. The assistance will take the form of recoupable loans.
-
Television and Web-Based Development Fund
This program provides funds in the form of recoupable loans to support the development of television and web-based projects that have already secured third-party financing, which represents an acceptable market trigger for broadcast or distribution.
-
Feature Film Development Fund
This program will assist eligible applicants with the development of viable motion picture concepts into screenplays for theatrical release. Movies for television are not eligible.
-
Television and Web-Based Production Fund
This program is designed to support the production of television and web-based projects that have an acceptable market trigger for broadcast or distribution and sufficient third-party financing to complete the project.
-
Feature Film Production Fund
This program assists in the production financing of fully developed feature film projects through equity investments. Movies for television are not eligible.
-
Grant Program for Emerging Talent and Micro-Budget Production
This program is designed to support two streams of micro-budget productions: entry-level filmmakers who have received production funding awards through a competitive, juried process from a recognized industry organization; and producers of factual or scripted programming for projects with micro-budgets that do not exceed $100,000 and who have received a cash license or a distribution advance from a third-party distributor.
-
Feature Film Marketing Fund
This program assists applicants with the promotion and marketing of feature film projects at the time of theatrical release, or release at festivals and markets, to either enhance the promotion and marketing of the theatrical release and/or to attract the attention of distributors/sales agents to support commercial interest in the project. It is not the intention of the program to duplicate support in areas already covered under On Screen Manitoba's Access to Markets or Access to Festivals or the Winnipeg Film Group’s Marketing Fund. As such, expenses such as travel, accommodations, per diems, and/or promotional or marketing activities are not eligible. It is also intended to complement, not replace, resources, financial and otherwise, committed by the distributors of the film.
-
Access to Markets and Access to Festivals Programs
Administered by On Screen Manitoba, the Access programs provide support for Manitoba producers, writers, directors and/or distributors in attending and enhancing their presence at professionally organized film and television industry markets and/or film festivals, and other related approved events.
