Manitoba Acts Garner 12 JUNO Nods, Including 5 for MFM Supported Artists

On February 4, 2014 the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for this year’s JUNO Awards, including 12 nods for Manitoba acts. The nominees include MFM supported artists Royal Canoe, Marie-Claude, Desiree Dorian, Erin Propp & Larry Roy and KEN mode. Other local nominees include Little Miss Higgins and the Winnipeg Five, Isabel Bayrakdarian (with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra), Mahogany Frog, James Ehnes, Matt Epp (co-nominated for songwriting with Serena Ryder) and Toronto-based David Travers-Smith for his work an album for Manitoba’s Ruth Moody. The JUNO Awards will take place in Winnipeg, March 24 – 30, 2014.

We are so proud to be able to honour your achievements right here in Winnipeg – home of the 2014 JUNO Awards,” said Carole Vivier, CEO/Film Commissioner at Manitoba Film & Music and Co-Chair of the Winnipeg 2014 JUNO Awards Host Committee. “These nominations are made possible through the fantastic support of the Government of Manitoba. Our province continues to be recognized nationally as having some of the best and most comprehensive funding programs for musicians.”
The awards will be handed out on March 29, 2014 at the JUNO Awards Gala Dinner and March 30, 2014 at the Juno Awards Broadcast, which takes place at the MTS Centre in downtown Winnipeg. Tickets to the broadcast go on sale to the public through Ticketmaster on Friday, February 14, 2014.
