MFM Music Program Changes and Upcoming Deadlines
Posted on March 20, 2015
Manitoba Film & Music is pleased to announce the following improvements to our funding programs.
These adjustments have been made in consultation with Manitoba’s music industry, and the approval of the Manitoba Film & Music Board of Directors.
Overall
MFM is no longer allowing ‘in house’ costs, either paid or as a donated service, where the applicant claims their own time.
Music Recording Production Fund (Level 2)
Applications are now being accepted in this category for recordings of 6 or more songs, including traditional EP releases. Funds will be awarded relative to the number of songs recorded.
Music Recording Production Fund for Out-of-Province Artists
Applicants to this program can now apply for Level 1 or 2 of the Music Recording Production Fund.
Recording Artist Touring Support Program
• In an effort to fund artists that need our resources most, acts supported by the Radio Starmaker Fund are no longer eligible to apply for the Recording Artist Touring Support Program.
• There will no longer be a minimum 30 minute album length requirement. Artists will now be permitted to apply for tour funding to promote shorter releases.
• Concerts must now be 150 km from an artist’s hometown to qualify as a ‘tour date’. Show dates in nearby towns are not eligible for inclusion in a tour schedule to count toward MFM support.
This year’s music program application deadlines are as follows:
