Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba Film & Music (MFM) is a statutory corporation of the government funded through the Department of Sport, Culture and Heritage with the goal of ensuring Manitoba's film and music industries flourish. Since its inception in 1987, MFM has had the mandate to support the film and music industries in Manitoba through its objectives, which are to create, stimulate, employ and invest in Manitoba by developing and promoting Manitoba companies, producing and marketing film, television, video and music recording projects as well as to promote Manitoba as a film location for offshore production companies. At this important juncture, Manitoba Film & Music is poised for substantial growth in the coming years which is why it is both an exciting time for its next leader and crucially important for the board to select a growth-minded & business savvy exceptional leader to take the helm.

The CEO & Film Commissioner has responsibility to the Board of Directors for the overall operations and oversight of the corporation, ensuring that policies, systems and processes are consistent with the mission, vision and values of the corporation and in line with the strategic plan of the corporation. As the film commission lead for the province, they will liaise with government, stakeholders, and other organizations to identify opportunities, issues and trends and work collaboratively with municipalities to develop and implement screen friendly policies and procedures – ensuring a thriving, attractive and supportive film & music production industry. Specifically, the CEO will advocate for and facilitate partnerships within and external to the local film and music industries, facilitate negotiations with offshore film production companies to produce film productions in Manitoba; refresh Manitoba Film & Music’s short- and long-term strategic plans; and lead a team of professionals in the execution of the organization’s granting programs, equity investment opportunities, and contract negotiations.

For this highly visible and pivotal economic impact-generating position, you have credibility in the entertainment industries to serve as an invaluable partner to major players and other key stakeholders in the private and public sectors. Leveraging existing relationships with decision makers in multiple sectors & groups, you will attract and assist commercially viable productions and events, and create positive buzz for the province, its public spaces and its screen-based entertainment infrastructure. A strategic, authentic and entrepreneurial leader and mentor, you bring superior interpersonal and negotiation skills and are an adept manager of people and budgets and experienced in organizational change and strategic, operational planning.
