Music Program Changes

Posted on April 3, 2013

MANITOBA FILM AND MUSIC (MFM) is pleased to announce the following improvements to our music funding programs. These changes have been made in consultation with the music industry and MFM’s Board of Directors in order to better assist Manitoba musicians in their career development through streamlined programming.

The following program changes will take effect April 1st, 2013.

Recording Program – Addition of recoupable EP to Level 1 program

In recognition of new sales models being used by today’s artists, the Level 1 Demo and Commercially Released Single Program will now include a commercially released “EP” option. Under this new initiative, artists will be able to use funding from the Level 1 Program to produce and commercially release up to four songs. In addition, this release will qualify applicants to apply for additional funding through the Touring and Marketing support programs.

Touring Program - Personal Vehicle Use

In an effort to assist Manitoba artists with building equity in their business, MFM will now accept mileage accrued on personal vehicles to the Touring Support Program.

Video Program – Applications from MFM supported projects only

Due to limited funds, only songs produced in conjunction with the Music Recording Production Fund will be eligible to apply to the video program.
