Today, we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kevin Walters, our long-time colleague and beloved friend. On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors at Manitoba Film & Music, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Kevin’s family and loved ones.

Kevin’s legacy is one of generosity and collaboration. As Manitoba Film & Music’s Sound Programs Manager for 11 years, he helped grow our province’s music industry by fostering local talent and growing strong relationships. Kevin’s friendly demeanor and laid-back attitude made him a Canada-wide industry favourite. He was good at his job because he believed in promoting artists, and because he cared. A highly-skilled event manager, Kevin was at the forefront of bringing the JUNO Awards to Winnipeg, twice.

“Kevin helped put our province on the map in so many ways. Both as our Sound Program Manager and later as an event manager, he was instrumental in promoting culture in our province and has left an indelible mark on our music industry,” said Carole Vivier, CEO & Film Commissioner at Manitoba Film & Music. “On a personal level, I will miss Kevin’s friendship. It was a privilege to know him and work alongside him. He was so very loved and he will be greatly missed.”
